Silent Early Morning

Morning just the way I like ’em: No people. Silent. Woods dripping from night rain. Hot coffee in hand. The dogs were with me, of course. The only way this could have been improved, and it was shortly thereafter, was to have the remains of the fire relit. You can see black charcoal of the previous night’s fire behind the coffee cup. 1. Those kinds of mornings are perfection. I’m fortunate enough to have a house on Lake Erie. You cannot put a price on birds chirping, the waves gently lapping and the sounds of my dogs snuffling for treasures.

    1. I agree! There’s nothing quite as recharging as being on the shore of a large body of water. The things that ruin it: noisy people, radios, or jetskis. But a loon wailing or moose splashing in the shallows – perfect!
