Yesterday afternoon’s walk was particularly fulfilling. The bare tree branches were sighing with wind and the air carried a damp edge. Everything indicated a storm was on the way. Foolishly, I did not take my camera and hence this morning had to settle for the snow shot below from last December. But yesterday, it was not storm but harbinger of storm that set me tingling with enjoyment.
When I heard sleet hitting the windows before bed last night, my mid-winter enjoyment was complete. I woke in the wee hours to add wood to the stove. The dogs were snuggled in their beds. This morning I turned on the outside light to see all coated with icy snow… and more sleet coming down. I might even have to plow for the second time this winter. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be not having to drive to work. 😦
