Let’s assume for a moment that Mak really is a mix of pit bull and Plott hound. He certainly looks very Plott-ish… okay maybe Plott “on steroids.” I’ve never had a dog as hunting oriented as he is. My retriever didn’t compare and I’ve lived with two English Pointers. Mak is every bit as nosey as the pointers ever were though far stronger and, when he was young, intense beyond belief. While “working” he really was, and at time still is, a force to behold.
Johannes George Plott brought the Plott hound breed from Germany while Rottweilers originate, of course, from Rottweil. If I’m right about Mak’s past that would make our hoped for friendship between the two an alliance of German blood. And since I’m 1/4 German and 1/4 Swiss German add me into the mix. Of course I’m the Deutscher brokering the whole deal to begin with. This is as far as we’ve gotten:
I moved Mak from across the room so the could lie on the same day bed and I could sit between them and pet both at the same time. Rollo’s chained to the wood stove. Here’s Mak’s anchor. Oh, and boys? Your host requires all swords, daggers and axes be left at the door.
