Well, since you’re askin’…

A reader inquired if the sausage in the last post had no nitrites.  This photo should address her concerns: no nitrites, no nitrates, no artificial preservatives, low fat turkey, hardwood smoked and uncured. Whole wheat bread went along with that – think I had five slices.  Next to lunch, ten inches of razor sharp steel (Kershaw’s Camp 10) were wielded to open the package and sharpen the roasting stick.  Like I said, it was just about a perfect afternoon!  🙂IMG_2298

  1. Nice!! Even better than whole wheat bread is Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted wheat bread! Usually found in the freezer section of select grocery stores.

    1. Hmm, I’ll have to check if Walmart is one of the “select stores” ’cause that’s where this budget conscious “feller” shops. Even Walmart has way better breads. Name brand is cheapest though, and in truth, sometimes I like the thin almost non-existent slices if I’m leaning towards protein rather than carbs on that days’ diet. But when I’m grilling steak, I eat it with artisan bread.

Are you sure Ezekiel 4:9 isn’t a Bible passage? Thanks for the tip! 🙂

  2. Most relieved to learn no nitrates in the sausages lol 😉 I connect nitrates with very unsausage like things so nitrates in the sausages was a scary thought based on that ☺

    1. A friend pointed out that I’m eating them right around the expiration date. 🙂 I don’t recall exactly what day in April it was because my camera no longer records time and day.
