This is an Eighties era photo of Roger Estep pulling a big deadlift. He was one of the guys in his prime when I was competing. Always known for his supreme muscularity, until I saw this image, I’d actually forgotten how huge he was.Deadlifts were always my easiest and best lift. Nothing like these guys though… this is elite, world-class. The bouncing you see some of them do is called “hitching” and was never allowed in my and Roger’s day.
